A New Year

We wish you all a blessed new year and pray that God's grace will guide you in 2025. As we reflect on the past year, many different experiences and emotions resurface as we consider our time spent in Balimo and now in Canada. The year began with a period of trials; health concerns, a fuel crisis, unrest, and a slow immersion into yet another new community. Through each struggle and transition in our life, however, we have been reminded that God is and remains faithful. When things get difficult, we often attempt to work out solutions and strategies that may help us through our circumstances, using all of the powers of our logic and reasoning. While these solutions sometimes seem to work, at the end of the day - or year - God has a way of showing that it was really His mighty hand at work, and not us. It is such a comfort to know that we don't need to depend on our finite logic and reasoning, because we have a much greater Provider that we can depend on. "Humble yourselves therefore under the might hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you." (1 Peter 5: 6-7)
We thank God for the year that we have left behind and for the many ways that He has taught us more about who we are and who He is. 2024 was a year of new friendships, a renewed sense of purpose, and especially as we look at our children, much growth and development. We have been blessed with a community who cares about us and coworkers who work with the same vision in mind. This year, it has been another real blessing to be able to spend the holiday season with parents, siblings, nieces and nephews. As we look ahead, we are excited to return to Papua New Guinea, and pray that in everything we do in 2025, God will receive the glory.
